I would say that plants are used as all of the above: fuel, food, medicine, gifts, and clothes. Plants are used as fuel to create biofuels. Plants are obviously used as food, when we eat vegetables, and fruit, etc. Plants are used as medicine to make various drugs to help people cure their diseases. Plants, especially flowers, are used as gifts as well. Plants are used as clothes also, especially cotton and other plants.
