QUESTION 1

Use the slope formula to find the slope of the line passing through the given points.
(2, 1) and (4, –5)

QUESTION 2

Explain why the triangles below are proportional to each other.
Graph of a line containing the points: A(–10, –5), C(–2, –1), D(4, 2), and F(8, 4). Point B is plotted at (–2, –5) to form triangle ABC and point E is plotted at (8, 2) to form triangle DEF.

QUESTION 3

What is the slope of this line? How much does each pencil cost?

QUESTION 4

A bus travels at a constant speed of 55 miles per hour. How far will it travel in 5 hours?

QUESTION 5

Bob is selling floral arrangements. Each arrangement uses 1 vase and 15 tulips. Each vase costs Bob $4.00. Let C be the total cost of the arrangement and t be the cost of 1 tulip. Write an equation, in slope-intercept form, that represents the total cost of each arrangement to Bob.

QUESTION 6

Does this graph show a proportional relationship? Why or why not?

QUESTION 7

Write the equation of the line containing the point (4, 6) and having a slope of 4 in slope-intercept form.
QUESTION 8

This graph shows Matt's progress as he walks in the direction of Grandma's house:
Coordinate plane with x-axis labeled Time in hours and y-axis labeled Distance in miles. Graph of a line contains the following points: (0, 0), (1, 3), (2, 6), (3, 9), (4, 12), and (5, 15)

Olivia walks at a rate of 2 miles per hour. Who travels at a faster rate, Matt or Olivia? How do you know this?

QUESTION 8

Respuesta :

1. slope is -6/2 which simplifies to -3
4. it will travel 275 miles
3. the slope of the line is .15, each pencil costs 15 cents
thats all ik

1) y2-y1/x2-x1 = -5-1/4-2 = -6/2 = -3

2) The triangles are proportional to each other because, the bigger triangles AB(base) to BC(height) ratio is 8:4, which if simplified would be 4:2, and the smaller triangles is 4:2, which is the same. In other words, both of the triangles are the same.

3) y=0.15x, so the slope is 0.15, and each pencil costs 15 cents, or 0.15 dollar.

4) y=55x, where x=5, so y=55(5)=275.
The bus will travel 275 miles in 5 hours.

5) Slope-intercept form : y=mx+b, where m=slope, and b=y-int.
So, C = 15t+4 is the equation.

6) Yes, this graph does show a proportional relationship, because it costs $1 for every 10 photos, and this ratio is same for every amount of photos.

7) y-y1 = m(x-x1)
y-6 = 4(x-4)
y-6 = 4x - 16
y = 4x - 10

8) Olivia: y=2x
    Matt: y=3x
Matt travels at a faster rate, and I know this because Matt walks at 3 miles per hour, while Olivia walks 2 miles per hour, and obviously 3 mph is faster than 2 mph.
