Had Hitler been successful in taking Britain, it would have been extremely difficult for the United States. Britain had been the primary base of operations for the European War. Without Britain, there wouldn't have been an invasion at Normandy, along with countless other operations and bombing runs. Britain was vital to the US and its allies winning the war.
