New England's rough and rocky terrain made it ideal for early industry. The made streams and rivers allowed the different factories to employ the use of water power to help speed up various processes. New England also had more natural harbors than any other region. This meant that they could quickly ship the finished goods (like cloth) to the other regions and or nations to quickly turn a profit.
