The Albany Plan of Union aimed to unite the 13 American colonies by having them governed by a centralized government that would serve the British Crown.

The Albany Plan of Union was a plan proposed by representatives of 7 of the British North American colonies during the Albany Congress (June 19–July 11, 1754). In the plan, the representatives proposed to reform colonial-imperial relations by establishing a centralized government to the 13 British North American colonies.

The colonial governments would select members of a "Grand Council," and the British crown would select a "president General" with more authority, with the purpose of regulating colonial-Indian relations, resolve territorial disputes between the colonies and to levy taxes for its own support.

But the plan was rejected by the Crown, British didn't want the colonies to be united as they feared that the colonies could become a powerful entity that might rebel against the king.
