Chloe, Hannah and George are fundraising to cover their expenses to go on an educational trip They wash cars at community hall and share the money between them based on the number of hours they have washed cars. they share the money in the ratio 2:3:4. Georges share is $452. How many did they raise in total?

so george got 452...
so 4/9 of the total money is 452
4/9x = 452
x = 452 / (4/9)
x = 452 * 9/4
x = 4068/4
x = 1017 <=== total money raised

chloe : 2/9(1017) = 2034/9 = 226
hannah : 3/9(1017) = 3051/9 = 339
george : 4/9(1017) = 4068/9 = 452
