Jonas is making a trail mix recipe that calls for 3 cups of nuts and 1 cup of raisins. Jonas mixes the nuts and raisins together. He will then divide the mixture into plastic bags containing 1/2 cup of trail mix in each bag. How many plastic bags does Jonas need?

Add total cups
3 cups + 1 cup = 4 cups

Step 2:
Divide total cups by 1/2 cup to get # of bags needed

=4 cups ÷ 1/2
=4÷1/2
Multiply by the reciprocal of 1/2
=4 * 2/1
=8 bags needed
