Number is six greater than 12 times another number the sum of the two numbers is 214 find both numbers

Number 1 = x
Number 2 = y
x = 12y + 6 
x + y = 214
You can do multiple methods here. (I am going to do substitution)
So substitute the x equation into the other equation 
(12y + 6) + y = 214
13y = 208
y = 16
plug that into an equation to get x
x = 12(16) + 6
x = 198

You can check and see 16 + 198 =214
