Information gathered from observing a plant grow 3cm over a two week period results in data. Data is facts and statistics that are collected over a period of time. It is collected for reference or analytical purposes. In our example, the data collected from observing the plant grow can be analysed and conclusions can be drawn from the data. The results of the analysed and processed data are known as information. This information often provides new insight into existing concepts.
