The movie ends when he and the baby approach a cabin in the snowy forest. It’s a cliffhanger, but not as much as the book. In the movie, we aren’t sure whether or not the baby’s even alive. We aren’t shown what else happens once he approaches the cabin- but we do assume that he goes inside with the child.
