Two numbers A & B, whose product is AB

when A increased by 30% and B decreased by 30%, the product is:
1.3A * 0.7B = 0.91AB
then
1AB - 0.91AB = 0.09 which is 9% decrease. So the answer is a 9% decrease.

Hope this helps. :)

The product of two numbers decrease by 9%.

Let us consider that first number is x and second number is y.

Product of both number = [tex]xy[/tex]

if number x is increased by 30%

then number become, [tex]=1.3x[/tex]

if number y is decreased by 30%

then, number become, [tex]=0.7y[/tex]

Product of both numbers[tex]=1.3x*0.7y=0.91xy[/tex]

So,  the product of two numbers decrease by,

             [tex]\frac{xy-0.91xy}{xy}*100=\frac{0.09xy}{xy} *100=9[/tex]

Thus,  the product of two numbers decrease by 9%.
