The method of farming used in the Indo Ganges plain is called subsistence farming. This method of farming is where they grow food for themselves, they also trade their food with others who live in their small groups or villages.
Those two rivers served really to help build India in that they provided the people with really good farmland, which meant really good, fertile soil to grow crops in.
