Which statement describes the attitude of the "Radical Republicans" following the Civil War? Question 7 options:
"Southern states should pass the 'Black Codes.' "
"The Southern states have been conquered and should be punished for their actions."
"Former Confederate leaders should be forgiven for their actions during the Civil War."
"The country should follow President Lincoln's plans to reunite the country as quickly as possible."

Respuesta :

"The southern states have been conquered and should be punished for their actions".
We are doing this one in school.
The radical republicans were about justice, not healing. They wanted equal rights for blacks, to continue the freedman's bureau, and to punish the south. This was during the years of congressional reconstruction, 1865-1867. President Andrew Johnson was more into healing the country (as he was racist), during the years of 1864-1865.
