Stephen A Douglas was an American politician from Illinois 5th District and a lawyer by profession..He held many political positions between march 1947 to June 1961.
ranging from,member of the house representative,the united states senate and finally a democratic nominee for presidential elections in the the 1860 USA elections.An election he lost to the republican Abraham Lincoln whom he had previously defeated in the senate content.Doug was was known to be a resourceful party leader applauded for tactical and skillful debates that helped in the growth of USA.His nickname little Giant was due to his short physical stature yet very forceful and dominant in politics..he deeply believed in democracy and rejected slavery in the 1860 convention,he died at a tender age of 48 years in 1861 after a short illness.
