The first two countries to receive aid under the Marshall Plan were
Greece and Turkey. With preventing the spread of communism being one of
the plan's goals, and with Turkey and Greece both representing what was
seen as the most prevalent geographical threat for it, it was deemed
necessary to fund them first.
