You would make a pie figure come up with the problem like say 4/5 you would have five pieces of pie and four are black so one white pie pieces and four black ones

If not just count all the dark shapes

Then count all the white shapes

Then you can convert it into a fraction

So

Darker shapes
----------------------
White shapes
