You will need to take the rate it's leaking out at, and figure out how many times that unit goes into one full gallon. Then you will need to multiply your answer by the time given in the rate.
Example: If the rate is .5 gallon per 1 hour, then we already know that it will take 2 hours...but to calculate it, we will take the .5 gallon and see how many times it goes into a full gallon, Its 2. Now multiply by 1 (since the rate was .5 gallon per 1 hour). So the answer is in fact 2.
Example 2: If the rate was .5 gallon every 2 hours, we will use the same method. If we think about it, we probably already know it will be 4 hours...but lets calculate!
