Why does the democratic-republican society insist on the centrality of "free communication of opinions" in preserving american liberty?

Respuesta :

Freedom of thought and freedom of communication was what the democratic Republican Society stood on.

The society sees excessive power as a hindrance to liberty; people are not able to express their thoughts freely. In line with this, the Democratic-Republican Society preached what freedom of Speech meant for them. If people are not able to express their thoughts freely then this means that they are being hindered liberty.
