An attribute that can be broken down into smaller parts is called a composite attribute. It is one of the attributes used in database management. Example of these are values that can be broken down int meaningful sub-values which include Name (First Name, Middle Name, Last Name).

This applies in science, when referencing atoms and molecules, this also applies to data management, when values are inputted into a system and compiled, for instance, if a person was to enter their full name into a computer, their first name could be separated from their last name because those are both seperate, simple attributes that, when joined, form a composite attribute
