For the growth of an organism and for the replacement of damaged skin cells the type A cell division takes place, while for the production of sperm and egg cells the type B cell division takes place.

• For the replacement of the destructed tissue like skin and for the growth of an organism the body requires to generate cells, which are similar to the cells that differentiate to produce them. These cells do not take part in the process of fertilization, thus, they require the total amount of DNA not half of it.

• The germ cells undergo type B cell division. These cells give rise to gametes, that is, egg and sperm, which exhibit half the amount of DNA obtained from the original cell. The gametes further merge and give rise to a new organism.

Thus, type A type of cell division is demonstrated at the time of replacement of the damaged tissue and at the time of growth of an organism. On the other hand, type B type of cell division is exhibited during the production of sperm and egg cells.
