Structures that extend from the lateral walls of the nasal cavity are called nasal Conchae. It is also called Turbinate, or Turbinal. The nasal Conchae consists of a lamina of spongy bone, curled upon itself like a scroll and is responsible for regulating the airflow through the nasal passages. The bones expand the surface area of the nasal cavity, allowing the air to come into better contact with the cavity walls.
