language and action
Shakespeare uses language and action throughout his plays to show character emotion. Since the plays are acted out on stage, the best way to show emotions is through words and actions. Shakespeare's sets that indicated time and place were rather minimal. Themes are taken from the character's language and actions. Symbolism is not used to show character emotion.
