The prosecutor uses logos, pathos and ethos in his appeal to the jury.
- When Doar says "If you find that these men or that each of them is not guilty of this conspiracy it would be as true to say that there was no night time release from jail by Cecil Price," the prosecutor uses logos. He does so by explaining an event, and then telling us what its logical consequence is.
- When Doar says "What I say, what the other lawyers say here today, what the Court says about the law will soon be forgotten, but what you twelve people do here today will long be remembered," he uses ethos. He appeals to the audience's importance and credibility in order to persuade them to act in a particular way.
- When Doar says "These defendants will stand before you on the record in this case and they will beg of you for indulgence. In effect they will beg of you for indulgence," the prosecutor uses pathos in order to paint an emotional picture, and convince the jury of something by manipulating their emotions.
