Polluting the oceans causes harms to aquatic life which affects the food chain and the ecosystem.
let me explain.. on pollution.. the plants, weeds in the water get polluted . The small organisms which feed on these things are consumed by the bigger ones. the increasing amount of pollutants in each level leads to the death of fishes and other marine organisms. We, humans too depend on aquatic animals for food. Pollutants may enter our body which affects our health.Similar to the Minamata tragedy that took place due to mercury poisoning, it may take thousands of lives. Many seagulls and birds may get extinct due to poisoning or lack of food because they too depend on fishes for food.
hope it helps you!
