when Gatsby told tom that daisy didn't love him, tom started to laugh and was calm, which only infuriated gatsby more, daisy was hysterical at this point she wanted to leave and then tom told gatsby that no matter how much money he had, he wouold never be like tom ; meaning he would never have daisy and gatsby lost it, and daisy just grew silent and didn't move, up untill they left the hotel
