C. Heat
When heat is added to a substance, the molecules and atoms in that substance vibrate faster and move farther apart, and when a substance is cooled, the molecules vibrate slower and move closer together.
For example, as ice is warmed, the energy from the heat causes the molecules of water to move faster and farther apart, causing it to melt and liquify.
