Method 1: If you know the length and the breadth of the rectangle , then to find the area of the rectangle just multiply length times breadth or breadth times length and write the the answer with square of units.
Method 2: If you have length and the diagonal of the rectangle, then apply Pythagoras on the triangle made by length and diagonal.
Take diagonal as hypotenuse and length as leg of right triangle then find the other leg which will be the width of the rectangle, then apply method 1 on it.
Method 3. If you have width and the diagonal of rectangle then similar to method 2. find the length of the rectangle and then apply method 1 to find the area of the rectangle.

You can as well find the area of a rectangle by multiplying one of the long sides and the shortest side, but if in case, there is any grid in the rectangle; you can also find the area by counting the square.
