Joanne has to undergo reconstructive/plastic surgery in order to repair her breasts. Typically when a cancerous tumor is removed from a breast the majority of the breast tissue is also removed also. Reconstructive surgery which is also termed as plastic surgery will repair the breast and put in an implant.
