Alan has c pounds of candy. He gives his friend Matt 2/3 of the candy he has. Matt receives 4/9 pounds of candy. Write and solve the equation to determine how many pounds of candy Alan has.

So alan gets 2c/3 pounds

2c/3 = 4/9
⇒ c = 4/9 × 3/2 = 2/3 pound

Now alan has = 2/3 - 4/9 = 6-4 / 9 = 2/9 pound candy
