Joe and his brother are collecting money for a charity. Joe has already collected $170 and plans to earn at least $20 per week. His brother has $80, but plans to earn at least $40 per week. How many weeks until Joe's brother has more money than Joe? How much money will they each have at that point?

Joe has collected $170 and he plans to earn $20 weekly

His brother has already collected $80 and he plans to earn $40 weekly

Let's start off with Joe and the amount he will be earning weekly

First week: 170 + 20 = 190

Second week: 190 + 20 = 210

Third week: 210 + 20 = 230

Fourth week: 230 + 20= 250

Fifth week: 250+20= 270

Next is to calculate Joe's brother earnings

First week: 80 + 40 = 120

Second week: 120 + 40 = 160

Third week: 160 + 40 = 200

Fourth week: 200 + 40= 240

Fifth week: 240 + 40 = 280

In five weeks Joe's brother will earn $280 while Joe will earn $270

Hence Joe bother will have more money that joe in 5 weeks
