The term Golden Isles is used to describe the state of Georgia. The origin of the name can be traced to Spanish explorers who sort gold originally descended upon the territory about 400 years ago, only to find golden islands rather than gold.
The state is known for its Astonishing beauty, mild weather, and a natural radiance which inspired the area's name, the Golden Isles.

This island is managed by Jekyll Island Authority and it is wholly owned by the state of Georgia
Little St. Simons Island
This is a Privately owned and it is only accessible by road. it is the only island in the group devoid of any development.
