The war in Afghanistan and the war in Iraq are the two largest wars launched by the United States in the Middle East and its surrounding areas, which have caused untold disasters to the lives and living conditions of the people in the two countries. In the Middle East and other places, the United States has extensively cultivated proxies and sold massive amounts of arms, causing massive humanitarian disasters. The US has been deeply involved in the Syrian war and the civil conflict in Libya by supporting multiple proxies, resulting in wars and conflicts there that have been prolonged until now. The situation has become increasingly complex, and political reconciliation and social stability are far from being achieved. The former head of Libya's National Transitional Council, Mustafa Jalil, said that the ongoing civil unrest has killed many Libyans, "and the United States is not concerned about the consequences of military action and war." Nearly two decades of war in Afghanistan have caused 2.6 million Afghans to flee the country and 3.5 million to be displaced, according to the United Nations refugee agency. In 2003, the US bypassed the UN and violated the basic principles of international law prohibiting the use of force by launching the Iraq war on fabricated grounds, which constituted aggression against Iraq. According to the Global Statistics Database, from 2003 to 2021, about 209,000 Iraqi civilians died as a result of war and violence, and about 9.2 million Iraqis became refugees or were forced to leave their homeland. The wars waged by the United States in the Middle East and other places have seriously damaged the right to life and survival of people in the region.
