A child casts a shadow 1.3 m long. The distance from the top of the child’s head to the end of the shadow is 1.9 m. To the nearest centimetre, how tall is the child?

Height of the boy is 1.4 m and casts a shadow of 1.2 m

At the same time, a building casts a shadow of 5.4 m and suppose height of the building is x m

Then ratio of their heights and shadows are in proportion

⟹1.4x=1.25.4

⟹x=1.21.4×5.4

⟹x=6.3

Hence, height of the building is 6.3 m.
