Fred is scuba diving. He stops to look at a fish that is 14.3 meters below the surface. Then he swims down 5.8 meters deeper to look at a reef. If he then swims up 3.2 meters, which is the BEST approximation of Fred's position relative to the ocean surface?

-17 meters since 14.3+5.8=20.1 and 20.1-3.2=16.9 he would be approximately 17 meters below the water

11 meters because if you do 14.3-5.8=8.5 then it said he went up so now you do 8.5+3.2=11.7 but it still counts as 11
