Respuesta :

Although Woodrow Wilson had tried to remain neutral during the first World War, he eventually changed his mind because:

  • Germany sank many American merchant ships around the British Isles.
  • Germany was trying to get Mexico to fight the United States in the war.

As a result of Germany pursing a strategy known as 'Unrestricted Submarine Warfare,' they sank any ships that they could that were headed for Britain including American merchant ships and this infuriated the Americans.

A telegram was also intercepted that showed that Germany was trying to encourage Mexico to ally with Germany and declare war on the U.S.

These two factors were threatening the security of the U.S. and so we can conclude that they pushed the U.S. to war.
