According to the UN statistic divisions, there are four subregions in which the European continent is divided:
- Eastern Europe – North Asia (Siberia) and Central Europe in this subregion
- Northern Europe – and also the British Isles
- Southern Europe - above the Mediterranean sea
- Western Europe – includes Germany plus the surrounding German-speaking countries.
