There were many colonists who came to trade and rule over the territory such as Britishers, Portuguese, Danes and French. Among these Britishers were the one who captured the large areas and ruled for long period of time.

They also acquired the thirteen colonies of the North America as the source of wealth and political power. They granted the right to colonize to both people and businesses. Spain's prosperity had persuaded Europeans that gold and silver were plentiful in North America.
