Why do they call the ocean a living resource if water is not alive? The fish and the creatures living in the ocean are alive but they are not really part of the ocean and the water that makes it an ocean.

water is an abiotic factor meaning it is a nonliving resource that plays a role in the environment. In order for most organisms to live they need this resources thus making it an abiotic resource. Water is not living due to it not having cells despite the living creatures that live among it.
