1.) Unfortunately, universities look for students to perform well all four years of high school. Depending on the university they may require a mid-year transcript to ensure you are not slacking off after being accepted.
2.) If you do well in just your senior year chances are that your average GPA will not be up to par and therefore you will be declined.
The CGPA of the student is also important not just the performance in grade 12.

Grade 12 is the highest class in high school in most parts of North American including the United States of America.
Some of the reasons that cause grade 12 students not to be admitted in the university despite a good performance are;
- The background of the grade 12 student may not be suitable for admission his/her admission despite a good grade in grade 12.
- Also, the CGPA of the student is important. This is far beyond a singe impressive performance in grade 12.
Hence, a student may not be admitted into the university despite a good grade 12 performance.
