Some nutrients and other types of particles can be taken into a cell when the cell's plasma membrane encloses the particles and pinches off, forming a free-floating vesicle inside the cell. A lysosome containing digestive enzymes then fuses with the vesicle. Which term best classifies the uptake of such particles by the cell?

Respuesta :

You haven't provided the terms. but
Enodocytosis is best term which classifies the uptake of particles by the cell.

Answer:

The correct answer would be endocytosis.

It is one of the processes by which nutrients and other type of particles are taken into the cell.

The plasma membrane invaginates, surrounds and then encloses the macromolecules. It forms the pocket around the macromolecules which is then pinched off to form intra-cellular vesicle.

It is of two types:

Phagocytosis (cell eating): Vesicles formed in this usually merges with lysosomes to form endosomes. Lysosomes provide hydro-lytic enzymes which help in degradation of marcomolecules into simpler units.

Pinocytosis (cell drinking): Vesicles formed are comparatively smaller and usually do not require to merge with lysosomes. These vesicles carry molecules along with extracellular fluids.
