What does the quote mean? How may it apply to society today? Do you agree or disagree with the statement? Use reason and evidence to support your claim.

“I have an almost complete disregard of precedent, and a faith of the possibility of something better. It irritates me to be told how things have always been done. I defy the tyranny of precedent. I go for anything new that might improve the past.” --Clara Barton, founder of the American Red Cross

Hello User! I don't know about your opinions, but here is a template for what you can do...

To me, this quote symbolizes Clara Barton's opinions on precedents; she obviously envies the way precedents affect the society and she believes that we can achieve better solutions rather than following the same techniques used from the past. This can apply to the society from the past that is still happening today. One of Washington's precedents in his Farewell Address warned us to stay away from the concept of political parties, but did we listen? No. But, did that cause any bad harm? No, again. Just different ideas from different aspects; the concept didn't create a national war. So, I (agree/disagree) with this statement because ____________________. After this, I am so sorry that I cannot help you find reasons and evidence because I am not sure what type of reasoning and evidence you need :(.
