Genghis Khan was in fact illiterate and tolerant of other religions; however, he was not so peaceful. I wouldn't say he was a peaceful ruler, but he was certainly not a peaceful conqueror. Whenever they would conquer lands, they would usually brutally kill the people and burn the land until they surrender.
