The significant lesson have I learned from the story Sinigang could be that people are prone to make mistakes in life. Some light mistakes, but oftentimes, critical mistakes. In the end, you have to be humble to accept your errors and ask for forgiveness.

I will apply it in your own life​ by knowing that I have made my own mistakes, but there have always been people right next to me to help me, no matter the circumstance. And if people have helped me in the past, I have to be there for them when they commit a mistake and need a helping hand. I will be the one standing there, next to them, to lend a helping hand in the difficult times.

1. The significant lesson that can be learned from the short story "Sinigang" by Marby Villaceran is that forgiveness takes a difficult process to achieve, unlike the initial wrong.

  • Liza's father had an illicit affair with Sylvia.  Liza did not know that she had a stepbrother from another woman. Adultery always puts loved ones asunder. Liza met her stepbrother as he lay in state.

  • Sylvia confessed her sin to Liza at the burial of Lem and extracted forgiveness from Liza.  But the father could not emulate Sylvia. Unrecognized, this lack of forgiveness caused the daughter-father relationship to suffer irreparable damage.  Liza could not bring herself to lovingly cook her father's favorite dish, the sinigang, for him again.

2. The lesson is for every man to recognize that unguarded behaviors can damage intimate relationships.  When one errs, always ask for forgiveness, and then, resolve to improve.
