The shape of a airplane can affect the distance because maybe the weight or the things you have on it or added to it can cause it to be unleveled and not have a long time to fly the right way. How I would fix it to make it better would be by making it very light and easy and not have some much art or details on it that will make it be harder to fly in the air. The less things you do to it the better it will fly and the correct way you do it will make the airplane strong and will have a better chance of flying across the whole classroom or at least half the classroom.
