The medulla oblongata in the brainstem is the region of the brain that controls primitive functions of the body.
The brain stem is located under the cerebrum in front of the cerebellum. It is made up of the pons, midbrain, and medulla oblongata. It connects the spinal cord to the brain for regulating primitive functions.
