These questions are SOOO easy, but I just don't have a clue. (don't even know if they technically are algebra they are that easy).

x² - 8x - 20 =

(x+10) (x-2)

Thats what I got for that answer (lucky guess) but how do you know which side each sign goes on.. ie (x+10)(x-2) or (x+2) (x-10)??

Same problem with this question...

(x-6) (x-5) =

x² - 11x + 30

Answer:

Yes, a solution

Step-by-step explanation:

Plug -3 in for all the x's to see if it is a solution

6x + 5=5x + 8 +2x

6(-3)+5=5(-3)+8+2(-3)

Multiply on the left

-18+5=5(-3)+8+2(-3)

Add on the left

-13=5(-3)+8+2(-3)

Multiply on the right

-13= -15+8-6

Add on the right

-13=-7-6

-13=-13

Because they are equal, -3 is a solution

Hope this helps! :)
