1. The mouth is the first site of chemical digestion in a human. Your saliva contains the enzyme amylase which starts the process of breaking down the food you eat. Keeping this in mind, what organelle do you think would be most numerous inside the cells of your mouth? (HINT: In your muscle cells, the mitochondria are the most numerous.)

2. Explain your reasoning behind question #1. What makes you believe that this organelle would be in abundance?

SUBJECT: Anatomy

Respuesta :

Ribosomes and golgi bodies will be most numerous in the cells of salivary glands.

Explanation:

Ribosomes are the cell organelles that are associated with the production of proteins by the process of translation from mRNAs. Golgi bodies are the organelles that are associated with the secretion of the secretory vesicles outside the cells.

Salivary amylase is an enzyme and all the enzymes are proteins. They are needed to be translated by ribosomes from the mRNAs. And as they are produced, they are needed to be secreted outside the cell. So golgi bodies and ribosomes are found most numerously inside the salivary gland cells.
