Cross section of different areas of the same plant show cells with very different structure. What does this tell you about the different areas?

Respuesta :

Explanation:

-these are likely different tissue systems or organs

-they each may execute different specified functions

Cells sharing a similar origin, group together in the body to form tissues; these typically share physical features and are arranged in regular patterns. All living things, grow, respire, reproduce etc. these processes are carried out by cells, which are thus integral to their survival.

Further Explanation:

These tissues form systems that may be

  • meristematic- temporary, found at growth regions called meristems; they are undifferentiated or incompletely differentiated and continuously undergo growth and division
  • non meristematic- permanent tissue, already differentiated and are made up of plant tissue that no longer divides

Meristems differentiate into three main plant tissue types, which make up several  tissues in various amounts:

  • ground
  • dermal
  • vascular tissues

Secondary tissue types are either complex, made up of several different call types, or simple, made up of the same cell type.  Dermal tissue covers the plant's outermost layer, and mediates gaseous exchange. While two types of complex vascular tissue, are the xylem and phloem.

Xylem vessel elements: mature xylem vessel is made up of dead cells called vessel elements aligned end-to-end where these ends have been dissolved and the protoplasm is absent. These form long, continuous tubes that facilitate the unobstructed flow of water and minerals to other areas within the plant.
