Eastern Europe
After WWll, Western Europe remained free while the power/territory hungry Soviet Union took over the countries of Eastern Europe. These countries, called satellite nations, acted as a buffer between the Soviet Union and the rest of Western Europe and was also known as the Communist bloc.
