Manufactured compounds called chlorofluorocarbons (CFCs), that were being released into the atmosphere from products that contained them ,were largely responsible for the hole that developed in the earth’s ozone layer. This is why a lot of products containing CFCs such as styrofoam and aerosoles were banned in various countries.
